Underwater pathways

Sustainable Overseas Territories Contest 2018

1st Prize: Acoua, Mayotte

M’Tsangafou underwater pathway is part of the innovation and opening-up process of the municipality, which sets out to become a departmental benchmark in terms of the social and solidary economy.

This “aquatic hike” is located to the north-east of Acoua and south-west of M’Tsangafou. It aims to foster observation and discovery of the marine ecosystem which borders the municipality: with the help of 7 observation buoys and underwater markers, adults and children can discover Mayotte’s lagoon underwater biodiversity in a fun and educational way. The project has the support of numerous partners such as the Ministry for Justice and the natural marine park of Mayotte.
