A zero-waste neighbourhood

28th edition of the Eco Actions Trophies

Citizenship Prize: Saumur

Through the missions of the Jacques Percereau municipal centre, the city wished to commit to a participatory, experimental and innovative process in the neighbourhood on the topics of the environment and circular economy. The “my zero-waste neighbourhood” challenge, stemming from a partnership agreement signed between the city and the “Saumur Aggropropreté” Local Public Company, operates on the strong willingness to act in favour of sustainable development at the neighbourhood level.

Workshops on reusable materials recycling, no-waste cooking, cleaning up the neighbourhood and taking part a shared garden project, are some of the proposals implemented to raise the population’s awareness on the impacts of consumption on the environment.

Furthermore, it is necessary to bring together the different stakeholders in the territory by organizing collective actions, enhancing existing facilities in terms of sustainable development, with the support of national-scale NGOs (Zero Waste).
