“The sea starts here” is a comprehensive project on the theme of water in Combs-la-Ville. Its purpose is to increase residents’ awareness of the need to preserve the water resource, water quality and the impact the different contaminants have on it. Numerous private and public partners are involved in the project, such as Senart Waters, the NGO “Développement Durable Notre Avenir” (“Sustainable Development Our Future”) and an NGO from Combs-la-Ville: SHAGE (History, Archaeology, Genealogy and Exchange Society)… Actions are split between 3 main themes:
- Planning and management of the city, including “street art” on the pavement inlets and the design of rubbish bins decorated with giant flowers made of recycled waste.
- Organizing events such as conferences and screenings as part of the Eco Festival, workshops on making household products, hosting an exhibition on water…
- Lastly, in terms of communication, a thematic study on water will be disseminated in the local paper and communication campaigns will be held to talk users into adopting virtuous behaviours.
