Three-in-one tools for the sustainable city

Within the context of the New National Programme for Urban Renewal (NPNRU), this fact sheet released by ANRU offers an overview of 3 methods and processes carried out on a national scale that contribute to urban planning and renewal projects:

  • The Ecodistrict label, which urges local governments to implement sustainable urban development (environmental objectives and social diversity at the neighbourhood scale).
  • The AEU2 method designed by ADEME, a support tool for public and technical decision making which helps local governments to implement urban projects.
  • The HQE Planning certification operated by Certivéa which assesses management systems of public and private developers in order to integrate sustainable development objectives into projects.

It also suggests a methodology to make use of these tools in a complementary fashion throughout the implementation of the project, as well as some concrete examples of urban renewal projects which have already applied them.
