Valenciennes – Creating the conditions of low-carbon mobility

Steering inhabitants toward eco-friendly mobility
Within the Hauts de France region, at the heart of Valenciennes and located on an island on the canalised Escaut River, a new neighbourhood is under development, with the ambition to reach zero carbon emission.
In order to urge the neighbourhood’s residents to use more sustainable mobilities, the number of parking spots will be limited (maximum 1 per housing unit), and complementary mobility solutions will be offered and encouraged: electric car-sharing, car-pooling, soft mobility...
In addition, a reflection on the typology of inhabitants and the resulting housing will be conducted. A balanced mix of young people / seniors / families /CS etc reinforces the ability to optimise the pooling of common equipment.
