The project concerns the deployment of a very large-scale IT and geographical information solution with a level of requirements that matches the mission challenges entrusted to LYDEC.
Since 1 August 1997, LYDEC, a subsidiary of Suez, has been providing delegated management of electricity, drinking water and sanitation services for more than 4 million inhabitants of the Greater Casablanca Region for a period of 30 years.
 
LYDEC has 3250 employees with a turnover of 375 million euros. In 2007, LYDEC chose Altereo to supply and deploy GIS applications for Water, Sanitation, Electricity and Public Lighting in fullweb mode.

It is the largest business GIS on the African continent with 600 users and a seamless migration from the legacy system.
Implementation of a geographic information system on Greater Tunis / National Sanitation Office
L'objectif de l'ONAS (Office National d’Assainissement) à travers ce marché est de mettre en place un Système d'Information Géographique, en collaboration avec le système d'information opérationnel des activités métiers de l’ONAS sur le périmètre du Grand Tunis, soit :
• 7 millions habitants
• 1 910 000 abonnés,
• 176 communes,
• 16 900 km de linéaire du réseau,
• 119 stations d’épuration,
• 788 stations de pompage,
• 263 millions m³ eau collectée.

The objective of the ONAS (National Sanitation Office) through this contract is to set up a Geographic Information System, in collaboration with the operational information system of ONAS business activities on the perimeter of Greater Tunis, namely:
• 7 million inhabitants
• 1 910 000 subscribers,
• 176 communes,
• 16 900 km of linear network,
• 119 sewage treatment plants,
• 788 pumping stations,
• 263 million m³ water collected.
 
These activities relate to the geolocation of customers, the operation of sewerage infrastructures, the management of water quality and reuse, the monitoring of industrial discharges, the maintenance of certain areas related to connected activities such as social, economic and statistics.
 
To this end, this project deploys a Geographic Information System in N-tier architecture that can be used in web mode to monitor the activities generated in the Greater Tunis area. Indeed, this GIS has been developed along three axes:
- An operational GIS: this system will allow the management and monitoring of ONAS business activities;
- An "infrastructure" GIS allowing the monitoring and updating of the existing infrastructure
- A development GIS that takes care of the planning and programming of projects, as well as monitoring the implementation of the various actions undertaken.
