Specialized Public Institution
Created in 2018, the Bank of the Territories is one of the five businesses of the Caisse des Dépôts. It brings together internal expertise for the regions in a single structure. As a single customer gateway, it offers tailored lending and investment financing and advice solutions to meet the needs of local communities, social housing organisations, local public enterprises and legal professions.
Launched in 2010, the Future Investment Programme, led by the General Secretariat for Investment, is devoting 665 million euros to the "City of Tomorrow" action. This mandate leads the Caisse des Dépôts to support innovative urban projects, carried out by both public and private stakeholders, with 30 regions engaged in an Ecocity approach.
Within these rapidly changing metropolises and large conurbations, the financing of demonstrator projects fosters the emergence of a new way of designing, building and managing the city. As operator of the "City of Tomorrow" Future Investment Programme, the Bank of the Territories supports projects that meet the criteria for this programme's intervention.
Supported projects must be particularly innovative or achieve exceptional environmental performance. For example, they aim at high targets for energy conservation and reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, or are practices that have not yet been disseminated in France, or very little.
The projects also cross all dimensions of the city of tomorrow: urban design and environment, buildings and uses, mobility, energy and networks, innovative urban services.
